Vision open call for new singers

Do you love to sing and have previous
experience singing in a choir? Or have you ever wanted to join a choir but lack
the confidence because you can’t read music or lack the experience of singing
in public? Well guess what … if you’ve already performed as a volunteer cast
performer in any of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Opening and/or
Closing Ceremony, you’ve already performed in the world’s biggest show! If you can master that, you can do most
anything!
So here’s your chance to keep the legacy alive
and join our 60 strong Visionaires on a musical journey when Vision resumes its
12-week rehearsals and performances this autumn.
Vision is an SATB choir open to all London
2012 volunteer cast performers; we’ve already kick-started what turned out to be
an incredible and successful first ever term this past summer. Since our first
summer rehearsal in April, Vision has performed at the Proms at St Jude’s
Festival, Voices Now Festival at the Roundhouse, Our Big Gig at Victoria Park
and at the Open East Festival back at the Queen Elizabeth Park on the one-year
anniversary of the Games.
As a new choir, we’re incredibly delighted
with some of the feedback we got from our members:
“[I] have never sung in my life, and have
never had the confidence to sing in front of an audience, but now my confidence
has grown and I love it.”
“[I] have sang a few times with a local
choir in public .... but feel my skills and confidence improved with Vision.”
“After every rehearsal I certainly feel
'uplifted' – there is a great sense of community, a sense that what we're doing
is underpinned by shared values. The physical act of singing itself helps with
breathing deeply which has medical benefits. Encouraging others, and being
encouraged, to do their best, and recognising achievement has undoubtedly
raised my own self-esteem and hopefully that of others.”
So why not get involved? Our autumn term
will start on Thursday 26 September at the Fourth Floor Studios in East London.
We normally rehearse for 2.5 hours from 7-9.30pm.
