Our Big Gig 2013 launch Vision with Don Foster MP,
Minister for Communities (c) Justin Sutterfield.
Vision is a charitable not-for-profit music society dedicated to keeping the London 2012 legacy alive through creating opportunities for community engagement and participation in cultural activities.

The Choir was founded in 2012 by a group of volunteer cast performers from the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Opening and Closing Ceremonies. Our ethos is very much about community engagement, volunteering and taking part in musical activities. We welcome new members who love to sing, and who share our values and the desire to keep the legacy alive through music participation in our communities.

In the last three years, we have performed at the Proms at St Judes Festival, Our Big Gig (Victoria Park), Surrey Sports Awards, Barbican Look East Festival, SouthBank Winter Festival, Lights and Legacy Autumn Family Fun (Three Mills), the Horniman Museum Winter Festival, and most recently, the Chorus Festival (SouthBank), Voices Now (Roundhouse), and International Music Day (Embankment Gardens). We’ve hosted three themed workshops for the public to encourage people to come and sing.

As a choir, we always want to do more including performing in more gigs, hosting community workshops to encourage more people to sing, commissioning new music, or working with other performers or instrumental ensembles. We want to provide opportunities for anyone aged over 18, who share our aims to take part in making music and promote music in our communities.

However, there are costs involved in running the choir including fees for our MD, the rehearsal space, as well as music hire and purchasing costs, commissioning fees, royalties, promotional expenses, insurance, and costs of participating in gigs, etc. Currently, our only source of funding is from an annual membership subscription and weekly rehearsal fees. We’re committed to keeping the fees as low as possible, to ensure that inability to pay is not a barrier to participation in the Choir.
